Shaver Lake continues to kick out multiple limits of mixed kokanee and trout. The funny thing is that both are found 81 to 85 feet deep. The kokanee are in the spawning mode and are biting most orange or pink kokanee type lures with a tip of corn behind blades or mini flashers. Most boat anglers trolling around the point are catching limits of fish. We have been picking up 3 limits a morning on my charter boat. I have witnessed one guy jigging for kokanee from his boat around the old dam. He was doing quite well. Those that have not tried this form of kokanee fishing should give it a try. Small kokanee jigs dropped near the bottom and working up will do the job. The trout bite is good over most of the lake. Trollers working Black Rock are finding success at 20 foot down. There are some kokanee deeper there and Eagle Point. For those without down riggers, I would suggest trolling in the Stevenson/Tunnel Creeks areas. Kokanee and trout can be found in the upper 30 feet.
Bank fishermen are having some success in the roads 1 and 2 , dam and Edison camp on planters using Power Bait or crawlers. Thanks to heavy plants by DF&W, I think trout fishermen on Shaver should do well through the fall.
Small mouth bass continue to jump on spinners or crickets in most rocky areas of the lake. The Tunnel Creek area has kicked out some nice smallmouth bass to 2 pounds.
