Shaver Lake trout fishing is simply great, says guide Dick Nichols of Dick's Fishing Charters. Nichols says that all the trollers he has talked to have had equal success. The problem is SCE is dropping the water to below the launch ramps to about 47% capacity of the lake. Light boats will be able to launch on the auxiliary ramp at Sierra Marina for a while and possibly all winter, weather permitting. It is worth every effort as the lake is loaded with good catchable trout and some trophies. Nichols says he is fishing at 20 to 35 feet deep with Trout Busters tipped with crawler behind  weighted Mountain Flasher's. Some of the other trollers are using a variety of crawler/ blade combinations. Bank fishermen have been working the roads one and two areas with fair to good success. Power bait or crawlers work best.
