Report Date:
http://norcal.fishreports.comTrollers are catching limits of trout every day, says guide Dick Nichols of Dick's Fishing Charters. Shaver Lakes producing mostly limits of rainbows and a few brown's in most areas of the lake. Nichols likes the island, Eagle Point and the Stevenson/Tunnel Creek's area. Most trollers are targeting the trout at 20 to 30 feet deep and are using a variety of spinner/blade combinations with a tip of crawler. Early morning was the most effective hours however, with a full moon, the best bite was mid morning. Even with the lake being at 49% capacity, a mid week count of boats on the lake was 10 or more. Weekends even more. Most are able to launch without much problem.
The lake should level at about 47% when all is done. Bank fishermen have had some success in their attempt to catch trout. Reports of limits have been noted especially in the roads 1 and 2 areas. Power Bait or crawlers seem to do the best.
The Shaver lake trophy Trout Project is asking for tax exempt donations for future plants and continuing with fishing education for the young and old alike. All donations can be made out to the SLTTP and sent to PO Box 908, Shaver Lake, Ca, 93664. A letter will be sent to the donor for thank you and tax deductions.
