Orange County fire officials are set to re-open Santiago Canyon Road this afternoon [Friday October 26]. Accordingly, Irvine Lake will re-open for fishing at 6:00 AM Saturday morning October 27.
No fire damage was suffered by Irvine Lake facilities, and all wind-associated damage has been handled by Lake Staff. Some phone service interruptions may still be seen.
No trout planting was possible this week, but only 2 1/2 actual days of trout fishing took place prior to the fire closures, so the majority of the 20,000 pounds of trout planted for opening day remain in the lake. The normal weekly planting schedule and 5,000 pound allocation will resume next week.
Report Date:
The devastating fires in Orange County have temporarily closed Irvine Lake to fishing and all other public access. At this time, no fire damage has occurred on any Irvine Lake/Serrano Water District buildings or other lake facilities. We will send out an announcement when the lake is allowed to re-open. ......
