Steelhead bite has slowed and this week's rain may bring the river to near flood stage. Some steelhead were caught near the mouth of the Van Duzen with plugs early in the week. East Branch is bringing dirty water. South Fork received some much-needed color early in the week. Boats are on the main stem. Best tactic is to walk and fish the flats and cast from below the riffle. Fishing is fair, not hot. Rain is expected today and Friday and that will change the conditions.
