The second of three Department of Fish and Game (DFG) hunting clinics geared toward helping sportsmen bag wild pigs will be held June 3 in Sonoma. The clinic, jointly sponsored by DFG's Advanced Hunter Education Program and the Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Valley of the Moon Gun Club in Sonoma.

Instruction will cover various techniques used in the hunt of wild pigs, safety considerations, necessary equipment, and the proper care of the game after the hunt. Participants will also learn to adjust to the behavior of pigs as they adapt to an increase in hunting pressure. Instructors will cover hunting ethics as well as the required licenses and tags needed. Recipes for wild pig dishes will be available.

The clinic costs $40. Registration is free to all Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association members and other certified hunter education instructors. A barbeque lunch will be available for a $5 donation.

Raffle tickets will cost $5 each, or five for $20. One of the prizes is a guided wild pig hunt. The program does not accept credit cards.

All proceeds from the clinic go to Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association and DFG's Advanced Hunter Education Program. A similar clinic on wild pig hunting was held in April and a third is scheduled for August.
