The 2015 Fishing Season is off and running and what a great, "crazy" weekend it was. Snow started to fall about 4am on Saturday morning and by the time the day was done a good 4″ to 6″ of snow blanketed the Eastern Sierra and the June Lake Loop. Boats went out at about 5:30am Saturday on Silver Lake and the true die hard fishermen received an experience they can tell to family and friends for years to come. Fishing started out slow due to the cold, but picked up as the morning rolled along. Most anglers saw good results from the stockers catching smaller rainbows on Power Baits, Lime Twist and Garlic, worms worked great and some various lures like a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant or a Gold Kastmaster napped some nice Rainbows. Right as the light was coming up for the day, Dawn Schultz of Santa Clarita hauled in two nice Rainbows, one weighing in at 2 pound 7 ounces and the other, which was the largest Rainbow caught by a lady in the June Lake Loop, weighed in at 3 pound 9 ounces both caught on Power Bait Lime Twist. Steve Chiasson of Corona brought in some very nice looking Cut Throats weighing in at 3 pound 4 ounces, 3 pound 12 ounces and 3 pound 6 ounces caught using Rooster Tails on Lower Rush Creek. Seth Wink of Murrieta brought in a nice 3 pound 14 ounce Rainbow caught on Pink Gulp Worms. But the catch of the day was caught by 8 year old Isabel Pardee of San Diego who brought in her 4 pound 9 ounce Rainbow caught from the shore of Silver Lake using Power Bait. Isabel won the biggest fish out of Silver Lake at the June Lake Loop Monster Trout Contest and won some great prizes. All in All the weekend was a huge success despite the colder weather and snow. Everyone seemed to have some good success fishing and most seemed to enjoy the snow that piled up in the area. There are still a lot of fish out in Silver Lake as DFW stocked this past Monday and Desert Springs of Oregon planted 400 pounds of Large Rainbows averaging 5 pounds per fish on Monday as well. Don't forget to get your summer reservations in soon as we are filling up here at Silver Lake Resort for the summer. Give us a call at 760-648-7525 or look us up on the internet at silverlakeresort.net and take a look at the live web cam looking out at the Lake and Boat Rental Area. Come on up and enjoy the June Lake Loop and the beautiful Mono County and Eastern Sierra!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will see You at The Lake!!!!
