From Davis Dam south through Big Bend State Park, the striper bite continues to improve. Anglers are reporting more catching than just fishing. Anchovies are the bait of choice and will also bring in catfish that are cruising the bottom. Largemouth and smallmouth bass can be found in some of the backwaters and quieter areas, along with bluegill and redear sunfish. Night crawler pieces and small jigs will work well for these species, adjusting sizes for the target species.
