Trout are still hitting Rapalas, Kastmasters, and Needlefish like clockwork but with the increasing
water temperature, anglers were having to experiment with different depths anywhere from
6ft to 25ft. The catfish have been very active recently and biting a wide variety of baits including
mackerel, nightcrawlers, dough balls, and even gold Kastmasters in murky waters. Santa Cruz
and Cachuma Bay produced the most limits of cats this week. Working the bank along Jack
Rabbits Flats is the way to go for a stellar bass bite. Spinners and deep cranks seemed to be
the go-to lures for the anglers catching their limit. Even the crappie made a good showing
on the east end of the lake in the earlier morning and later evening. The large amount of tree
stumps and structure is a little hazardous for boats but allows for excellent panfish habits.
Water Temperature: 74 Degrees
