Catfish topped the charts this week with quite a few limits caught. Primarily smaller cats in the 1lb range but the bite was consistent enough to allow for atlist 30 fish days for some fishermen. Drake Cove and Mohawk Bay prove to be the go-to shore spots while Johnson and Cachuma Bay held plenty of sizeable fish for boaters. Garlic soaked mackerel was by far the best bait used. The bass continues to favor crank baits and nightcrawlers in the early mornings and late afternoons. The bank from Drake Cove to launch ramp area is the prime bass spot for shore anglers though taking a boat to drift along Cachuma Point and Jack Rabbit Flats will allow for a more consistent bite and bigger fish. A fair amount of bluegill were caught using jigs, mealworms, and cut bits of nightcrawlers in Mohawk Bay as well.

Bass: Good
Bluegill: Fair
Catfish: Good
Trout: Poor

Trout can still be caught trolling the dam area with lures sinking 7 – 10 ft through many anglers using leadcore line were able to hook them around 40 ft deep. The smallmouth......
