Skipper Justin Fleck returned 33 anglers aboard Excel to Fisherman's Landing January 5 after a Christmas 10-day trip to the Southern Banks.
"We had good fishing on these medium grade tuna," remarked Justin. "But we just couldn't find the bigger ones. It was tough."
Jay Orbon of Morgan Hills took first place in the Jackpot for a 91.1-pound yellowfin.
"It's just one of those deals," said Jay. "We should have zigged instead of zagged. We still had fun."
Robert Smisch of Rosamond was second for an 89.9-pound tuna and James Bech of Huntington Beach was third for an 89.9-pounder.
