Water Conditions: Fair
Flows are at 69 cfs as of 3/5
Fishing conditions and Hatches: Fair-Good
It must be getting close to alfalfa season because the river just went up to 69 as of yesterday! Maybe this will kick start the Baetis but at the very least it will spread the fishing pressure out. Dry fly action has been picking up for the smaller fish, 10"-16". The midges are pretty much the only bug hatching but there are fish rising in the slower water midday, dry dropper was the most successful with a large dry and Zebra Midge dropper. The perch, no longer fry, are still getting flushed through the pipe so make sure you have light colored streamers ready, go with bigger streamers. By now the fish are educated to perch imitations so you need to figure out how to present a dying perch realistically.
