The river is in good shape thanks to our recent rainy and cool weather of late and is currently running at around 2,400 cfs at Waterloo. Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs.
About 2,400 summer steelhead have crossed above Willamette Falls on their way to the upper basin and about 200 of these have made it to the fish ladder below Foster Dam. Chinook are also plentiful in the river, especially above Waterloo Park, with more arriving every day.
The entire river is now open to trout fishing until Oct 31.
