Bass Delta Event

The BASSmasters made its' first 2007 swing through Northern California with their "Duel in the Delta" event last week.

Winner Aaron Martens of Alabama is a native Californian who became the 18th member of the exclusive BASS club whose members have won at least one million dollars in tournament cash. Martens weighed-in a total of 20 bass for 85 pounds, 12 ounces, and pocketed $103,000 for the victory.

Other NorCal anglers who finished in the top 10 included Skeet Reese of Auburn in fourth place [$18,000], and Jared Litner of Arroyo Grande in seventh place [$15,000]. The heaviest individual fish overall was an 11-02 by Martens, but Oklahoma resident and Chico State graduate Mark Tyler had the second largest with a 10-06 lunker.

This weekend will see a return to NorCal waters with a BASS Elite Series event taking place at Clear Lake.
