Attention Anglers! If you go fishing on Lake Tahoe, you may encounter Rainbow Trout that have been equipped with research devices as part of ongoing studies in the region. A few Rainbow Trout have received both a visible “Floy tag”(photo 1 and 2) near the dorsal fin that has a telephone number printed on it as well as a “PIT tag”(photo 3) implanted in front of the dorsal fin that is not visible. If caught please report the catch to the number on the Floy tag. If harvesting the fish please be aware of the small PIT tag that may be located within the edible portion of the fish. It can easily be removed during cleaning. Thank you!
