Anglers on Lake Oroville need to look deep for their quarry, reported Don Reighley at Oroville Outdoors. "The bite has gone down to 20-40 feet", said Reighley. "Lots of fish are being caught from daylight to 10:00 AM, and then again in the late afternoon on main lake points and slots. Best lure has been a green pumpkin tube rigged on a ? ounce darthead. Anglers report releasing 15 to 20 bass per session, with the largest going about 17.5 inches. The fish are also putting on more weight since the spawn."
Reighley added, "A few catfish to six pounds are hitting in the south fork on cut baits like anchovies and sardines."

The end is near for shad anglers on the Sacramento, according to Richard Peeples at the Tackle Box in Chico. "We are seeing a lot of the larger female shad to four pounds, which means it's getting near the end of the run", observed Peeples. "There are also some nice stripers up to 18 pounds hitting right at dusk on topwaters for people heading out of Scotty's." ......
