Lake Oroville Fish Report
Lake Oroville - Oroville, CA (Butte County)

Anglers on Lake Oroville need to go deep or head out at night, reported Don Reighley at Oroville Outdoors. "The water level is dropping almost two feet per day", observed Reighley. "Most of the bass are either suspended, or holding deep. The deep fish will still bite, but the suspended fish won't move in near the bank except at night. Best bet for bass that are mostly in the 12 to 15-inch slot is using a morning dawn-color dropshot bait with about a 10-inch dropper."
Reighley added, "All of the launch ramps are currently operating, but as the water level goes down, they will stop being usable. The DWR says that the last operable ramp [Bidwell] will probably be out of the water around Sept. 15. The number for Lake Oroville launching information is 538-2200."
The annual Oroville Invitational Sporting Clay Classic fundraising event will take place at 2:30 PM of July 24 at the Thunderhill sporting clay course in Willows. The event is a benefit for Gun Owners of California, proceeds going to combat anti-gun legislation. The shoot will include 100 rounds, dinner catered by Lots'A Java, bottled water and soda, special Ladies and Juniors awards, along with some great raffle prizes.
Tickets are $100 for shoot and dinner, $35 for dinner only, and $65 for Junior shoot and dinner. For tickets or more information, call 534-8000.
