http://www.sportfishingreport.comOur last charter of 2009, aboard the , MIRAGE was a great success, although no exotics showed for us, but the rockfishing was awesome. Everyone was on board by 9:30pm and we were greeted by Capt Tucker and second ticket Lou, on deck woul be Ryan and Miguel and the infamous Andrew in the galley. Capt Tucker said the weather was starting to come up and it was going to be a bumpy ride out to the islands, man was that an understatement. I was beginning to think I was on a roller coaster ride at Magic Mountain. We had to anchor up for the night at Santa Cruz as the winds were howling and it was better to be on the safe side. We fished grey light for a while with no love, so Capt Tucker made the call to make the run over to Santa Rosa as the winds were starting to lay down, everyone loaded up with some of galley chef's Andrew cuisine on the run over. Makaela Coughlin (youngest angler on the boat) soon put a 10 lb ling on the deck and had the envy of all us "seasoned" anglers. We ended up with limits of Vermillion, Chuckleheads and the ever elusive Boccacio. We then headed for shallow water in the hunt for some whitefish, and again Makaela showed us how it's done by catching a 12 lb California Sheephead and taking the jackpot. Cudo's to her for giving the entire jackpot to the crew. It was another great trip, with a great crew and some awesome anglers (even if the little girl did out fished us).
