The Crooked river has been fishing fair. It seems to have made a reasonable rebound from the low flows and there are plenty of healthy trout in the 10-14” range around with larger trout being few and far between. Nymphing remains the most consistent method throughout the day and zebra midges, RS2’s, perdigons, jig leeches, and eggs have been recent favorites. There have been lots of trout rising the last few hours of daylight and they are likely feeding on midges. With the flows at 50cfs the river is fishable but it is quite shallow in spots so having those nymphs about 2-3’ under the indicator seems to be the sweet spot for avoiding constant hangups on the bottom.
