The Trask still has a little opportunity for catch and release of wild steelhead but things are winding down and many fish are actively spawning or have already spawned. All wild steelhead must be released unharmed. Avoiding long fights and handling will reduce stress on released fish.
No reports of spring Chinook caught on the Trask yet, which is not surprising this early. Springer fishing won’t really get going until May but we do hear of the occasional fish caught in late April.
North and South Forks of the Trask close to steelhead fishing on April 1 to protect spawning wild steelhead and out-migrating juveniles.
Cutthroat trout fishing in streams will reopen May 22, 2023.
Trask river levels and predictions are available here.
