Wood River Should Continue Improving for Brown Trout

The Wood River should continue improving for brown trout this week. Grasshoppers are around. Fishing below Weed Rd is best. Recent brown trout stomachs found crayfish in their diet.

For brown trout the best section to fish is above Crooked Creek from boat. Fishing near Fort Creek might also be productive. Bank access is available below Weed Rd and at the USFS Day Use Area. The day use area should be fair for casting mayfly and caddis patterns. The best bet from shore is below Weed Rd. There is parking and access at Weed Rd.

Large redband trout are moving into the river. All redband trout must be released.

Bull trout are becoming more common in the catch. Know the difference between brook trout and bull trout. This article on MyODFW.com can help.
