As fall settles in, the Crooked River is shaping up nicely with steady flows keeping the conditions optimal. Mahogany Duns are starting to show up for dry fly enthusiasts, alongside PMDs, BWOs, and tan Elk Hair Caddis. Nymphing with Perdigons, jig Napoleons, and two-bit nymphs has also been effective, and Purple Haze remains a solid dry fly choice. It’s a great time to get out and enjoy this river, with the season’s best still to come.
