Spring hatches are gaining momentum on the Metolius. PMDs are starting to show in better numbers and are mixing into the rotation with consistent Blue-Winged Olives. Caddis activity remains steady, with the pupae stage being more productive than dries for now. It’s also not too early to keep a few Green Drake patterns handy — a few are popping early, especially later in the day around Candle Creek. For dries, pack a mix of Sparkle Duns, Film Critics, and Rusty Spinners. Subsurface, Golden Stones, drake nymphs, Perdigons, and 2-Bit Hookers are putting in work. Bull trout fishing remains solid on big streamers — try olive or white patterns in the deeper slots and tailouts.
