THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET

Scattered yellowfin tuna are again showing up with the porpoise in the offshore waters but not yet eager to bite. The skippers are seeing the fish, both puddlers and jumpers, but it has not been easy to get them to jump on the jigs. The billfish numbers fell this week to just under a billfish for every other boat and the overall fish counts reflected 2 stripers and 3 sailfish for 11 days fished, along with 21 yellowfin tuna, 13 dorado and 3 red sharks for the offshore cruisers and 1 striper for 1 super panga fishing day.

Mazatlan Climate: Sun-cloud mix with warm days and cool nights, 55-84 degrees.

Sea Conditions: Mostly calm and light surface breezes, temps at 76 inshore and rising to 78 offshore.

Best Fishing Area: continued to be out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid at about 22-25 miles.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits were best for the billfish and the feathers and cedar plugs were working well for the yellowfin tuna.
