THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND FISH CABO FLEET

The billfish counts remained way off the mark for this time of year as the averages reflected about 20% of the boats landed a billfish. High billfish boat for the week was the "Gaviota VII", skippered by Captain Alberto Garcia, with 3 billfish released for 3 days fished. The overall combined fish counts for 29 days fished reflected 5 billfish released, 8 dorado, 1 mako shark, 21 yellowfin tuna, 9 skipjack tuna, 7 roosterfish (released) and 132 Sierra.

Cabo Climate: Good weather this week, mostly sunny, with temps from 58 nights to 82 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Overall, very good conditions on both sides of the peninsula with temps from the Golden Gate Bank to the Gorda Bank that ranged from 73-75 degrees.
Best Fishing Area: None reported as the fish were scattered from one side to the other.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait for the billfish. Dorado mostly on the marlin lures, tuna on the feathers & cedar plugs and the Sierra on small feathers and shiny lures & slow trolled strip baits.
Live Bait Supply: Remained good and mostly caballitos.
