THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET
The inshore action continues to dominate the Mazatlan fishery but
this past week finally reflected a spark of increased offshore
action, too, and the Mako shark bite was the best its been in a long
while. There was a noticeable change in the water clarity this past
week and if that continues, we should begin to see some increased
billfish and dorado action for the offshore waters. Overall offshore
fish counts for 25 days fished reflected 7 stripers, 1 sailfish, 15
dorado and 15 mako shark. The inshore fishing for 7 days reflected
limits of pargo, limits of mojarres, 8 corvina, 39 roncachos and 42
cochitos, reflecting excellent action for the inshore anglers.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny with a few passing clouds and temps
from 59 nights to 87 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: A light northerly surface breeze at about 5 knots
made for a calm sea condition and no swell, with temps from 77
inshore to 78 offshore. Offshore waters outside the 15 mile mark
were clean and blue.
Best Fishing Area: Still no specific area as the boats continue to
fish over wide spans of water.
Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits were best this past week for the
billfish and the mako sharks.
