THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND FISH CABO FLEET
While still slowish on the charters, the fishing has finally started
a bit of an upward trend and with any luck at all, it will begin to
stabilize and progressively get better as the spring summer fishing
arrives. It is long overdue and everyone is certainly anxious to get
back to more catching and less driving around with no bite activity.
"Fish Cabo", reporting for a single fishing day, landed 2 stripers, 1
dorado and 1 wahoo and just a few minutes from the harbor and outside
the fishing preserve. The overall combined catch reports for 12 days
fished reflected 4 stripers released, 2 wahoo, 2 dorado, 1 sierra, 1
mako shark and 48 yellowfin tuna.
Cabo Climate: Sunny, clear, warm and beautiful days with temps from
67 nights to 93 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Pacific side at 70-72 and rising to 74 by Cabo, then
rising to 82 by Gorda Banks, deep blue and very clear water.
Best Fishing Area: Continues to be on the Pacific side and around to
the 95-fathom spot.
Best Bait/Lure: Live bait is best with a few fish being taken on the
artificials or rising to the lures and then live bait drop back.
Live Bait Supply: Remains in excellent supply with a light mix of
mackerel but mostly caballitos.
