The water is starting to get cold. This usually means less in the numbers department but the occasional big fish can still be caught. There have been plenty of 10 pound plus fish caught so far this year. The average right now is about 3-8 fish a day. Beaches with access to deeper water are your best bet. Wooly buggers and wooly worms fished with a fast sinking shooting heads right on the bottom are the way to go for sure. Slower retrieves go right along with colder conditions so let em sink and bring em in slow. The fish will follow it right to your ladder so do not get in a hurry to make another cast. You can catch fish nymphing but it is a tough task to stare at an indicator for sometimes over an hour without a takedown. Most Pyramid regulars are using a two fly rig with some sort of a bright fly as the dropper and a dark one in the back. The dropper can be white, chartreuse, pink, purple etc. and the back fly is black, brown or olive. We still have a big selection of Pyramid flies in stock but they are going fast. If you are getting low I would suggest stocking up ASAP.
