Trout fishing has been a hit or miss proposition most of the week with recent storms as well as lack of anglers most likely the cause. Those who braved the elements were for the most part rewarded with some very nice stringers. Most reports had the rainbows any where from the surface to 20 ft. Fire tiger rapalas, needle fish, and an assortment of spoons were the top baits for trollers. Reports from the shore were scarce, but it was last known that E point was the best area with crawlers taking most of the fish. The water temp. dropped up to 3 degrees which has appeared to make the bass bite tougher than usual, as only a handful of largies and even fewer smallies reported. On a better note, those who chose to sample the lakes bow fishing had a quite bit of action in the backs of coves, with carp up to 15 lbs. taken. Check the county web site for rules regarding the use of bows in the park. All other species very slow as of now. Fish count as follows: 128 anglers reported 254 trouts, 28 bass, 4 crappies, 1 cat and 14 carps taken with bows.

Rate the action based over the past week:
Bass ==> Poor
Bluegill ==> Poor
Carp ==> Good ==> Average Size: 8 lbs.
Catfish ==> Poor
Crappie ==> Poor
Redear ==> Poor
Trout ==> Good ==> Average Size: 1.25 lbs

Rapalas and needlefish were the top producers for the boaters; powerbait and nightcrawlers were getting the job done on the bank. Bass fishing is still on the slow side but the river channel seemed to be the best location, while jigs and spoons were the best baits. All other species were......

Trout fishing showed a lot of improvement after two weeks of below average action. The fishes were scattered from the surface to 30 feet, with anything from rapalas on the surface to needlefish at 4 to 5 colors all producing nice catches of rainbows to 5 lbs. Shore fishing has picked up as well. E point and Harveys were the top locations, power bait and night crawlers once again were the top baits. The next......
