Bass fishing has been good just about all over the lake, and senkos and creature baits pitched in the brush are accounting for most of the catches. Most fish are in the top 5 ft. of the water column. There have been shad up tight and dippable at least twice last week, and if you can get a hold of that it should be good for all species.

Trout fishing was fair and the cooler weather had the 'bows up on top once again, and several quality fish of 6 lbs. were weighed in this week. Flat lined Kastmasters pulled in a 5 and a 5.5 holdover rainbow for Richard Rhea of Camarillo and Ron Hurd of Somis. The dam area was the most productive spot for trout, although shore anglers on E point scored some nice fish as well.

Crappie were down in the narrows, and were biting redworms and mini-jigs. Bow fishing for carp were also seen and caught in some of the shallower coves such as Harveys. Only 2 redear were reported this week.

Bass fishing has been good early and late with top waters, blades and jerkbait all working. Shad have been spotted up tight in Dead Horse Canyon and Cachuma Creek, so if you're into dipping shad, come on up. Trolling for trout was hit or miss, but trolling lead core 4 to 5 colors with dodger/crawler combos was the most effective, although shore fishing in the Mohawk area with inflated worms resulted in some nice catches of hold-over......
