http://www.fishingvideos.comSam Patella docked American Angler August 10 after a five-day trip to Guadalupe Island with 25 anglers on the Angler's Choice trip.
"The sharks were on us," remarked Patella, "or we would have more tuna."
The tuna were good ones, as is commonly the case at the big island. Lennie Scharut of Fresno used a rig borrowed from the boat to take the big one, an 80.5-pound yellowfin. The skipper said the outfit consisted of a 3/0 Eagle Claw hook on 40-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon, 80-pound Izorline spectra, an Avet LX reel and a Calstar 6465 rod.
Bill Patton of La Jolla was second for a 72-pounder, and Izorline pro-staffer Norm Fujimoto won third place for a 68-pound Guadalupe Island yellowfin tuna.
