As it has been most of the summer, catfishing is the only game in town. The same pattern is still holding up, fly lined mackerel, packaged dough baits and chicken livers are still taking some quality fish to 8 lbs. Backs of coves, especially ones with creek channels have been the best locales. Bass fishing remains inconsistent, if you can find an active school, spooning has been the best way to target the largies and the smallies. There has been a spotty top water bite very early, the top lures being poppers, spooks and buzzbaits. Bluegill once again are plentiful in shallow brushy areas. Mealworms, red worms, and gulp maggots fished under a bobber is the best technique. Crappie, redder and carp have all been slow. Trout fishing has been suffering as well, but we do have a 5,000 lb. plant of rainbow trout slated for November 4th.

Catfish still going strong, and several limits were reported last week. Mackerel has been the best offering, followed by packaged dough baits. Bass fishing has been inconsistent, but the cooling temps brought the largies up tight to the shoreline cover in the early AM, and were later found suspended around the......
