American Angler returns from Skinny Pirates 7 Day Trip, September 16, 2012

Owner-skipper Brian Kiyohara docked American Angler at Pt. Loma Sportfishing September 16 after a plentiful seven-day trip with 24 anglers on the Skinny Pirates charter. "We had excellent fishing from 80 to 200 miles offshore," he told dock reporter Bill Roecker. "That's good fishing for the day and a half guys." Henry Asao of Chatsworth won first place for a his 78.5-pound bluefin tuna. He said he hooked it with a Spanish mackerel on an Owner Offshore 3/0 hook and 30-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon. He used 60-pound Line One spectra on a Daiwa 40 reel and a seven-foot rod custom wrapped by Ed Hosaka. Chartermaster Steve Powell won second place for a 54.2-pound yellowfin, and Walt Nakamura got third place for a 51.8-pound yellowfin tuna
