Trout fishing was good this week with limits or near limits the rule for trollers using Rapalas, Needlefish, Kastmasters and wedding rings all over the lake. A 13.8 lb. behemoth was taken incidentally in a bass tournament last Saturday. That catch was just a pound shy of the lake record. This will include 200 tagged fish for the annual trout derby which will be held on the 20th and 21st.

Bass fishing has been good in the narrows and Johnsons and Cachuma Bay for the smallies. Jigs, senkos and blades are all taking fish. The Crappie bite has been fair in Santa Cruz, as well as Cachuma. Catfish also coming in from the island and the narrows. Bowfishing has also been good around the island early and in the narrows and the Chalk cliffs in the evening.
