http://www.countyofsb.org/parks/cachuma.sbcTrout fishing was good this week with limits or near limits the rule for trollers using Rapalas, Needlefish, Kastmasters and wedding rings all over the lake. A 13.8 lb. behemoth was taken incidentally in a bass tournament last Saturday. That catch was just a pound shy of the lake record. Those fishing from shore also reported a fair to good bite on PowerBait and inflated nightcrawlers. There will be one last 4,000 lb. plant from the Calaveras Trout Farm on Thursday April 18th. This will include 200 tagged fish for the annual trout derby which will be held on the 20th and 21st.
Bass fishing has been good in the narrows and Johnsons and Cachuma Bay for the smallies. Jigs, senkos and blades are all taking fish. The Crappie bite has been fair in Santa Cruz, as well as Cachuma. Catfish also coming in from the island and the narrows. Bowfishing has also been good around the island early and in the narrows and the Chalk cliffs in the evening.

Trout fishing was good early in the week, due to the 4,000 lb. plant of "Nebraska Tailwalkers". The best action came from the shore at Marina Point with just about any bait or lure working. Later in the seek the lake was plagued by high winds so trollers had a difficult time. Cachuma Lake will be receiving one more 4,000 lb plant from Calaveras Trout Farm on April 18th. The Crappie bite slowed some this past week. Although the slabs were reportedly taking CD Rapalas, mini jigs and mealworms. Most fish were caught trolling or drifting the Narrows and Cachuma Bay. The Bass bite has been fair as the fish begin to move up to spawn. The Bass have been taking spinnerbait, crankbaits and a wide variety of plastics. Catfish are beginning to show up in the counts although locations were not disclosed. Trput fishing has been slow but on Tuesday......
