Steady!!! Steady!!! Steady!!! That has been the phrase of the week in regards to how fishing has been on Silver Lake. Plenty of fish have been caught this week with several weighing in at 3 to 4 pounds and a large number of nice catchable thanks to DFG planting this past Tuesday and a nice load of Alper's put into Silver Late last week. The weather is supposed to get really hot up in the Sierra this next week, so look to fish early in the mornings and late in the afternoons as the water temperatures begin to increase. This week the temperature of the water at the surface is 58 degrees so the majority of those fish are going to be looking for deeper cooler waters. Look for the bite to be better at or near the surface in the early morning and late afternoon, try using a Black Wooly Bugger with red gills, pink or red Tasmanian Devils or the standard Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant. For dry flies look to use a Black Gnat with Red tail or any dark Caddis. From shore, great results were seen using Sherbet, Garlic or Rainbow Power Baits or a Night Crawler.
