It's amazing what some timely stocking can do for fishing!! Thanks to a nice load of DFW fish on Monday and a great looking load of Alper's Trout put in on Tuesday, fishing has been stellar this past week. Also, due to some cooler weather and some nice Summer rain showers, it has been epic up here at Silver Lake. DFW put in 800 pounds of catchable rainbows, while we received 109 fish weighing 261 pounds of Alper's averaging 2.3 pounds per Rainbow and that number has held up as over 20 of those 2 pound plus have come in over the past few days. Making fishing incredible with lots of smiling anglers. All the normal baits have been working with Berkley Mice Tails, Berkley Power Baits in Garlic, Sherbet, Salmon Egg Red and Rainbow Glitter Garlic seeing the best results as well as worms early in the mornings. Try dipping your bait into "Bite On" Garlic bait attractant as it will help attract the trout and disguise the smell of your hands and odor from the fish. "It Works!!!!" As for lures, look for Thomas Buoyant in Gold/Red, Florescent Red or Rainbow to work well, as well as Tasmanian Devils and Panther Martins. As calm as the lake has been the past week plus, look to use a dry fly like a Pale Morning Dun, Sierra Brite Dot or a California Mosquito with your fly rod or spinning rod with a bubble. Continue to take your baits deep as the water temperature is rising and is sitting at about 59 degrees at the surface of the lake. Fishing doesn't get much better in the hot month of July then it was this past week, so come on up and get you some nice Rainbows.

Fish Of The Week:

Pictured Above: Morgan Wilson of Yorba Linda landed a nice 2 pound 8 ounce Rainbow from her float tube using Berkley Mice Tails

The Gomez Crew; Richard and Young Savannah - 6 years old, caught a nice stringer with the big one weighing 2 pound 12 ounces on Silver Lake using Mice Tails and Needle Fish. (Pic 12)

Gene Nelson of Huntington Beach hauled in a nice 2 pound 3 ounce Rainbow from the shore of Silver Lake using Garlic Power Bait (Pic 9)

Lisa Jenks of Calimesa brought in a great looking 3 pound 12 ounce from the shore of Silver Lake using Salmon Peach Power Bait (Pic 1)

Happy Fishing and Good Luck!!
