The Bass bite has been a top water bite early and jigs or a drop shot later in the day. Redear and Bluegill can be found in the weed beds in the mohawk area or in Little Cachuma Bay. All other species were a non event.
We expect the Trout plant to start up at the end of October or early November.

Catfish dominated the action last week and Kitties to 6 lbs. were weighed in at the marina. The best location was Santa Cruz Bay, although Cachuma Bay and Johnson's also worked for the Cats. Cut mackerel and nightcrawlers were the most effective bait. The Bass bite picked up some. There have been reports of shad along the banks. But most fish are down about 20' in the water column. Crappie are still coming in from Santa Cruz and near the cistern. Mini-jigs......

Trout fishing picked up last week for those who were trolling leadcore near the dam at 8 or 9 colors. Dodger/needlefish or dodger/crawler were taking hold/over Rainbows to 3.5 lbs. Crappie action is still pretty good on the back side of Santa Cruz point on mini jigs tipped with mealworms and trolled C.D. 3 Rapalas. Catfish are coming out of Martini Bay, Johnson's and Clark canyon. Cut mackerel and crawlers accounted for most of the Kitties. The bass fishing is a bit......
