Report Date:
http://wildlife.utah.govWhat a difference 24 hours can make! The wind we experienced in the valley earlier this week has now completely taken the ice off at Cisco Beach. It has also made a lot of other areas on the lake unstable. As of Wednesday morning, the only ice that anglers were fishing on was south of the Pump House area on the east side. The rest of the ice looked very thin, and many parts were shelved up. Ice conditions can continue to change if any wind develops. The Bonneville cisco run has peaked, and it is winding down quickly. There were only a few small schools of cisco sighted at Cisco Beach, and it was open water. Just to the south of Cisco Beach, there was still a lot of ice and anglers were dipnetting cisco through the ice. At the marina, cisco were present in good numbers, but the fish were easily spooked, and it was more difficult to dipnet limits of fish. We will update the report every 1-2 days, depending on weather, ice and fish-run conditions. Please wait to call the fishing-conditions recording (available at 435-946-8501) until after 5 p.m. to help us keep the business lines open during the day.
