Ogden River Fish Report

Utah Division of Wildlife

Report Date:

http://wildlife.utah.gov

Some anglers report tough fishing in the south fork of the river. For fly fishing, the team at Anglers Den recommends using Prince nymphs (in size 16 or 18), sow bugs, Copper Johns, blue-wing olives (in size 18 or 20) or Parachute Adams. For spinners and lures, try using small Rapalas with a brown trout or rainbow trout pattern. A Blue Fox Vibrax (in size 1 or 2) should also do well. Thanks to Anglers Den for the report! The Magpie and Botts campgrounds -- which offer easier access to the river -- are still open. Other campgrounds up the river have closed, but you can still find access points. Check out the DWR video that highlights the Ogden River and other fun fall fishing spots in northern Utah. Be careful and do not step on the redds (brown trout spawning areas) while fishing. Watch this helpful video to learn more about redds and how to spot them.
