Report Date:
http://norcal.fishreports.comSurface temps are holding near 70. Flourescent orange is the best color in general, fire tiger patterns rule when overcast. Fishing has changed up a little this week.
As the sun begins shifting back to the south and our days are getting shorter the trout routinely gather out in the middle of the south basin for a feast of minnows before they split up and head in to forage the shoreline, rocky ledges and points. Since the tui chub minnows are prolific this year (compared to last year) the trout will follow.
The most active trout continue to remain deep but it will depend a lot on the bait balls drifting around out there. We continue to fish 24 to 35 fet deep (for leadcore users that still 4 to 5 colors in the water). Orange continues to be the best color but fire-tiger patterns are working best under a cloud cover. Pearl bikini (#1) color patterns has picked up a few this week as well as watermelon and brown grubs behind dodgers has been turning on.
This is also the time of year when using flashers begins to work well
