http://norcal.fishreports.comDick Nichols, of Dick's Fishing Charters says that the trout bite at Shaver Lake is awesome. His clients having been catching multiple limits of mixed trout and kokanee all week. The kokanee are winding down a bit, but one or two limits of kokes is possible. Nichols says the Point at 75 to 87 feet deep is still the most productive area for kokanee and just about anywhere on the lake is fantastic for trout. The trout are hanging about 20 feet deep and are chasing crawler/blade combinations. He uses the Trout Busters behind a weighted Mountain Flasher to get to the 20 feet depth range. He recommends pink or orange spinners tipped with corn behind a Captain Jack's C.J.Dodger for best results for kokanee.
Auberry resident Doctor Barbara Stewart loaded up on trout catching and tossing over 20 on a solo mid day trip this week. Dr. Stewart is a well known local kokanee fisherman but just could not resist the excellent trout bite.
The bankies are doing pretty good and various places on the lake, but road 1 stands out the most. Power Bait or crawlers are doing a good job on the mostly planters, but an occasional trophy sized rainbow finds the hook for the shore fishermen. Shaver Lake has received additional plantings of trout by DF&W this year because it was one of few trout lakes where a good body of water was normal all summer.
