State Parks has cancelled the fishing derby. The ice is unsafe because of the rain and warm weather. A few anglers risked the ice over the weekend and reported fair to good fishing for rainbow trout and walleye. Other anglers crossed the ice with boats and float tubes then fished the open water. They reported slower fishing than those on the ice. Try using small jigs or jigging spoons tipped with bait like worms, mealworms or cut bait. Try a larger presentation for walleye. Most of the walleye are small, but you can help the fishery by taking them home.
