The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will hold a wild pig hunting clinic on Saturday, April 29 at Monterey County's Fort Hunter Liggett. The clinic is offered through DFG's Advanced Hunter Education Program in partnership with the Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association, and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

?Į?ĮThe clinic will cover the considerations and requirements for a successful wild pig hunt, various techniques of locating the animals and different methods of take. Additionally, participants will learn about the biology of wild pigs as well as how to handle and care properly for the game. A tasty barbeque lunch will be available for a $5 donation, and attendees will also receive a selection of recipes for wild pig dishes.

?Į?ĮCost for the clinic is $40. However, the Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association will refund half of the registration cost to all association members and other certified hunter education instructors as a way of thanking them for helping to educate the next generation of California hunters.

?Į?ĮA wild pig hunt and other hunting related items will be raffled off during the day. Raffle tickets will cost $5 each, or five for $20. All proceeds from the clinic will go to Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association and DFG's Advanced Hunter Education Program. The program does not accept credit cards.

Individuals interested in attending the clinic must register and submit payment by April 14. People may register using a form available at www.dfg.ca.gov/huntclinics, or by calling (530) 347-3980. For more information about the clinic and other Advanced Hunter Education clinics, contact Susan Herrgesell at (530) 347-3980 or sherrges@dfg.ca.gov.
