Both shore and boat anglers are finding good fishing near Cottonwood Cove. Shad have been seen in coves to the north and to the south of the marina. Trolling with prepared bait in 15 to 60 feet of water continues to be the most productive approach to netting one of the area's plump stripers though anglers are also catching fish by stillfishing with cut bait. Word is that the filets are in good shape. A 20-pound striped bass was reportedly caught on hardware sometime during the past week.

At Willow Beach trout fishermen have been catching stocked rainbows on Little Jakes, PowerBait and Woolly Buggers near the hatchery outflow. Striped bass anglers have not been quite as successful, though one angler reported good success while casting AC Plugs between Aztec Wash and Placer Cove. His fish ranged in weight from five pounds to almost 34 pounds. Many of the striped bass anglers are focusing their efforts on trophy fish.
