Fall Chinook fishing has improved on Nehalem Bay. Trolling spinners or baits in the lower bay has been productive. Fish are available in upper tidewater also, where bobber and bait can be effective. Rain predicted for late this week and early next may be enough to get fish moving into the river.

The wild coho fishery on the Nehalem closed after Oct. 15. There is no retention of wild coho allowed on the Nehalem for the remainder of 2022. The Nehalem does get a return of hatchery coho bound for the North Fork, and the coming rains may be enough to get a push of fish back to the hatchery.

Trout season remains open through October 31st and fishing should be fair.

REMINDER: The Nehalem River upstream of the Hwy 26 bridge at Elsie is closed to angling Sept. 1 to Nov. 30.
