The release from Lost Creek Reservoir is 4,500 cfs and the temperature at release is 42.5F. Expect releases from the dam to stay around that number for a while.
Late summer steelhead moving into the hatchery are still available but chrome winter steelhead are around and numbers will continue to increase as we move into February. Fishing upstream of Big Butte Creek will provide clear but high water. Movement into the hatchery has continued to be decent. Fishing plugs on the rise is a good tactic. Lures or flies can be productive as the river drops and clears.
Anglers can call the Army Corps of Engineers at 800-472-2434 for an update on hatchery counts as well as flow and temperature information.
Gear restrictions changed on Nov 1. Make sure to check the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for each section of river before you head out.
For up-to-date river levels, check all the USGS Rogue gauges here.
