The river is in excellent shape for fishing. Boat anglers will have the best luck at catching a Chinook. Back bouncing or running plugs are two good options. The Chinook run is winding down, but anglers are still finding some fresh fish. The wild Chinook bag limit is 1 adult per day and 5 for the period of Sept. 1 to Dec. 31. Anglers should always check for updated regulations prior to fishing.
With steelhead season now open, it is not too early to give it a try. December can be great month to target these fish while most anglers are still thinking Chinook.
Anglers are reminded there is a steelhead season on the river that runs Dec. 1 – March 30. Anglers need to have the Rogue South Coast Steelhead Validation to fish for steelhead. Anglers can learn more about the Rogue South Coast Area Steelhead regulations at MyODFW.com or in the fishing regulation book.
Anglers that see a game violation can report the violation to *OSP (*677) on a mobile device or call 1-800-452-7888. Anglers can also file complaints or potential violations concerning guides to the Oregon State Marine Board.
