Report Date:
http://www.truckeeriveroutfitters.comAccess has not been a problem on the California side due to the low snowpack. The flows have been very consistent as well. There have been some really good hatches of Winter Stones and some Skwalas on the Cali side and BWO's on the Nevada side.
Recent rain last night has spiked the flows a bit but it should settle out in the next day or so.
The best time to fish is in the middle of the day when the water has a chance to warm up a degree or two. The bugs are also more active this time of day as well. Most of the hatches don't start until around noon. Nymphing with a small Stone fly and a Baetis dropper is a good way to approach both sides of the river now. The Nevada side is way better for dry fly fishing. Have a few Baetis dries in size 18 along in case you run into some feeding fish. Flows are; Town of Truckee 202 CFS, Boca Bridge 586 CFS, Reno 494 CFS.
