Trout fishing has been fair to good for those flat lining Kastmasters, Rapalas, and needlefish. Sunday a 7 lb. fish was the winner of the annual trout derby, which fell for a C.D 5 Rapala in black and silver.r. Shore anglers connected on E point as well as both sides of the buoy line in the marina. Powerbait, 'crawlers, and a variety of spinners and spoons got the job done. Crappie are still coming in from the east end of the lake on mini jigs tipped with a mealworm or a crappie nibble. Bass fishing has been on the upswing, as both smallmouth and largemouth are moving up into shallower water. Catfish have been taking cut mackerel and dough baits in the backs of creek channels and coves. Bow fishing for carp is wide open, look for feeding fish in the morning in Cachuma Bay and Johnsons. When the wind comes up in the afternoon, the east end of the lake is he place to be. Follow the edge of mudlines and the carp will be there.
