Shogun Sportfishing Fish Report 10-14-07

Last nights bait making went okay, we were done by 11:00. This morning started off right with five yellows coming over the rail in short order, then nothing. We picked up the anchor and did some looking, and then some more looking and really not finding much, I made the decision to try Chester's. Ummmm, just that word stirs deep emotions in the yellowtail angler. Although it seems that it has been along time since anyone has caught anything there, we had to go and keep it honest. What we found were excellent conditions and some biting yellowtail. From 11:00 until about 14:30 we kept one to five going, in short, it was good fishing, nothing wide open but good steady fishing. Sometimes you had to soak a bait, other timestickemackerelwas 50 or 60 lb, 6/0 hook, and a one ounce sliding sinker. Not that you needed to get the bait down to the fish, just that the birds were ravenous and it helped keep the bait away from them. As the guys who have been here before, you know why we recommend such large tackle, even so we lost quite a few yellowtail. It ended up being a good day.
